Blake Lively is no stranger to making fashion statements, and her recent floral outfits are the latest in a string of breathtaking looks that combine elegance with a touch of nature’s charm.
The queen of technique dressing is Blake Lively. Clearly.
The 36-year-old multihyphenate has been perfecting this technique long before it was popular in Hollywood. With her dedication to fitted suits, she was already creating waves in 2018 while she was on the promotional tour for “A Simple Favour.” Now that she’s back on the big screen with “It Ends with Us,” which hits theatres on August 9, Lively is getting back to work, designing a whole costume based on her florist Lily Bloom persona. Lively’s wardrobe selections for the press tour, which began in June at Book Bonanza, have been an extravagant floral display, paying respect to her character.
The main character, Lily Bloom, is portrayed by Lively and is well-known for her unique style. As expected, the actress has been showcasing her talent for elaborate and well-thought-out design in addition to reflecting the love of flowers shared by her character by sporting a variety of floral-inspired ensembles. It’s evident that famously stylish Lively is decorating her clothes with Easter eggs, a habit her husband Ryan Reynolds has affectionately dubbed “hyper-obsessive detail addiction.”
“When I’m filming a movie, I usually dress like my characters because style is always in.” I fall in love with whatever it is, therefore I usually dress like the character’, Lively remarked. And wear what Lily Bloom is wearing, which is the most gorgeous and imaginative ways.
Blake Lively’s dedication to channelling her characters through fashion is nothing short of impressive. As she continues her “It Ends with Us” press tour, we can’t wait to see what other Lily Bloom-inspired looks she has in store. One thing’s for sure: Lively has once again proven that when it comes to method dressing, she’s in a league of her own.
Channeling Britney Spears
While not as overtly floral as some of her other looks, Lively’s outfit for the premiere of “It Ends with Us” still had a floral edge. She donned the iconic Versace dress famously worn by Britney Spears in 2002. The dress, known for its floral detailing, was given new life by Lively on the red carpet at the New York event. Ever the fashion historian, Lively quipped that the dress belongs in the Smithsonian or the Met, but instead, it’s on her!
Lady Deadpool Meets Lily Bloom
Even when attending the “Deadpool & Wolverine” premiere in New York City, Lively didn’t stray from her theme. She rocked a Lady Deadpool Versace catsuit, but true to her Lily Bloom inspiration, the ensemble featured intricate floral embroidery. “I had a theme, I had an angle, and all the embroidery on the catsuit was flowers, so I was still honouring Lily,” Lively explained.
Oversize Suit
For her first London photocall on Aug. 8, Lively opted for an oversized white Stella McCartney suit adorned with delicate floral embroidery. She added a playful twist by going sans shirt under the jacket, instead letting her floral underwear peek out from the waistband, blending edginess with femininity.
All-White Everything
Lively continued her London tour with an all-white ensemble, consisting of a skirt suit paired with a rosette-covered top. She completed the look with white Chanel tights and pointed-toe heels, each adorned with a flower, making a strong case for monochromatic florals. It’s a look that would surely get Blair Waldorf’s stamp of approval.
