Fashion’s biggest night is back, this year hosted by Anne Hathaway and attended by Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams and Vanessa Hudgens.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards took place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City on Monday. The event honoured some of the biggest names in the fashion industry, including retired tennis player Serena Williams, who received the Fashion Icon award which recognized her “lifelong passion for design.” This prestigious event, often called the “Oscars of Fashion,” celebrates the industry’s top talents and serves as a runway for some of the most influential figures in the entertainment and fashion worlds.
The evening’s host, Anne Hathaway, opened the festivities in a flowery double-denim outfit from Ralph Lauren’s spring/summer 2024 collection paired with a stacked Bulgari diamond necklace. Later, she changed things up with a transparent lace Rodarte dress that had rosettes all over and black floral embroidery. Tung and Hamlin also wore nude outfits for the event; the “Summer I Turned Pretty” actress wore a crystal-encrusted Balmain minidress, and the former wore a baby-blue, nipple-baring gown by Alaïa.
Others opted for timeless all-black ensembles paired with whimsical accents and flashes of texture. Williams graced the red carpet in a bespoke sequin gown by Thom Browne, accentuated with enormous dramatic sleeves and a lengthy train, before accepting the CFDA fashion icon award. Kardashian drew attention with her open-back Chrome Hearts halter dress and her striking Barbie-foot shoes. However, upcoming brides Lori Harvey and Vanessa Hudgens both radiated Old Hollywood glitz. Harvey dazzled in a fur ensemble with a high split from Luar, while Hudgens chose a Vera Wang ball gown and matching leather opera gloves.
Below, we’ve curated a list of our top 10 favourite looks that captured the essence of the night. From donning the latest creations straight off the runway to championing emerging designers, these style mavens left an indelible mark on the fashion landscape, ensuring that the CFDA Awards were not only a celebration of achievement but also a runway of inspiration.
