With Paris menswear week officially over on June 25, Jacquemus took the lead at Versailles on Monday, June 26 with the Fall-Winter 2023-2024 “LE CHOUCHOU” collection, in a remarkable show, at the iconic Palace of Versailles. With an emphasis on establishing the Jacquemus brand accessible in the luxury space, the collection exuded a perfect combination of elegance, innovation and a touch of whimsy. Designer Simon Porte Jacquemus is known for choosing settings that evoke his native south. “I am really honored and proud to be able to do a fashion show in Versailles, as an independent fashion house. It’s a very special moment for Jacquemus.”

For his latest collection, Jacquemus sought inspiration from classic royal symbols, paying homage to Princess Diana’s timeless style while adding his contemporary touch. The designer considered their manners of dress and transformed them into bold and romantic ensembles. The runway, spanning an impressive 400 meters through the palace gardens, featured a range of stunning designs celebrating the sensuality of lingerie, the daintiness of lace, and the lightness of tulle. The collection showcased a visually mesmerizing ballet core style, with delicate peplums on hot pants, airy dresses, and other similar pieces that showcased the collection’s elegance and beauty.

The runway featured a lineup of supermodels, including Gigi Hadid , Kendall Jenner and Monica Bellucci’s daughter, Deva Cassel, along with the Maison’s esteemed models and muses, all embodying the opulence of the majestic surroundings.

Intricate bralettes and elegant nightgowns showcased updated French traditions, while square-toed ballerinas added a contemporary touch.

The “Le Chouchou” collection is a mesmerizing journey into a world of royalty, intricately deciphered and reimagined by the brilliant Simon Porte Jacquemus. With his immersive, poetic, and alluring approach, Jacquemus has presented a collection that is sure to captivate audiences and drive sales.

The collection exuded a sense of French excellence and majesty, with sheer lace, tulle and silk adorning white lingerie ensembles, creating polysons, peplums and puffed skirts. The inventive tailoring, characterized by backless blazers, cinched waists and loose sleeves, demonstrated Jacquemus’ ability to combine historical references with a contemporary and playful touch.

Jewelry was far from simple, as evidenced by Kendall Jenner’s necklace, which paid homage to Princess Diana’s iconic choker. Simon Porte Jacquemus masterfully incorporated references and nods throughout the collection, creating striking ensembles that left a lasting impression.

Fans will quickly notice that, in addition to their signature sinuous tailoring, Jacquemus has ventured into the world of graphics and polka dots – design elements that hold great appeal for him. Drawing inspiration from the iconic and charismatic Lady Di of the 1980s, as evident from his mood board, the designer brings a modern twist to these timeless patterns. Additionally, Jacquemus fearlessly experiments with volumes, venturing into uncharted territories, while also infusing a touch of boudoir with textured lace and lingerie. This innovative approach elevates his contemporary princesses to new and extraordinary heights.

A touch of Versailles, a touch of Lady Di, a touch of ballet and an undercurrent of pop culture, the Fall/Winter 2024 collection is a vibrant tapestry, an ambitious show where historical inspiration meets contemporary fashion sensibility, revealing the designer’s style.

“I wanted to change my aesthetic and had dreamed of Versailles,” he explained after the show. “But I wanted to stay true to our DNA by being in nature, on the water and not under the gold of the palace.”

Once again, Simon Porte Jacquemus makes a profound impact on the fashion world, fearlessly reinventing the past with his unmistakable boldness.
