From ‘quiet power’ to that Valentino tribute, here are the most talked about outfits from the awards night.
It’s been a big week for red carpets and fashion in London. Just a few days ago the stars brought out their best silver looks for the Renaissance premiere and were generous enough to serve their best looks once again at the 2023 Fashion Awards presented by Pandora. The ceremony’s fundraising efforts also helped the BFC Foundation, an organisation devoted to promoting young talent via grants, education, and business mentorship. The Fashion Awards 2023, in addition to celebrating British fashion luminaries, threw a bright light on the future and encouraged a legacy of inventiveness and support within the industry as the sparkling lights of the Royal Albert Hall sparkled in sync with the spirit of creation.
While other marquee events may lean towards the costumey, participants at the British Fashion Council’s annual bash rise to the occasion, leaning into some off-kilter, London cool. It has the spirit of the early Met Galas, when fashion was less concerned about TikTok virality and Instagram impressions. If the Met Gala is a revered but regimented institution, the Fashion Awards is its sleek and rebellious younger sister, and this year’s attendees were well aware of that notion.
The Maya Jama and Law Roach-hosted Fashion Awards 2023 emerged as a night of achievement and recognition, with a constellation of stars glowing brilliantly in the winners’ circle. Model of the Year was awarded to Paloma Elsesser. Martine Rose won the award for Best Menswear Designer. Maximilian Davis won a well-deserved triumph, demonstrating his clout in the ever-changing world of women’s fashion. Bianca Saunders received the New Establishment Menswear Award, recognising her distinct style and fresh perspective on the menswear scene.
