Few fashion companies have figured out the secret to successful fashion ads. Effective advertising has prioritised ongoing contact with celebrities rather than launching a fleeting campaign. Fashion companies are keen to go above and above for these celebrities, not merely for banners but also for red carpet appearances. Fashion companies take on a variety of projects, from creating personalised attire for their brand ambassadors to forming full-blown partnerships within the product line.

There is no doubting Hollywood’s enormous effect on the fashion and beauty sectors. This potent mix not only motivates us to purchase but also enthrals us with captivating advertisements. We simply need to recall legendary partnerships like the one in which Lady Gaga dressed as Donatella Versace for the brand’s spring/summer 2014 campaign or the one in which Kate Moss launched her career with Calvin Klein in the early 1990s.

Seasons and fashion trends may come and go, but one thing never changes: celebrity-fronted advertising. This year has provided us with a collection of the top celebrity advertisements, from Georgina Rodriguez making a fashion debut for GUESS to Kim Kardashian starring in the most daring commercial for SKIMS.

MIU MIU

Lensed by Steven Meisel, Miu Miu has chosen supermodel Gigi Hadid to front their latest campaign as she channels the iconic pop artist Margaret Keane. The campaign showcases Miu Miu’s newly debuted Arcadie bag in signature matelassé leather. Hadid embodies Keane’s demure and wide-eyed persona, sporting a choppy and wispy-fringed hairstyle. While it’s uncertain if the style is temporary and just a wig, the campaign proves there is no style that Hadid cannot pull off.

GUESS

Georgina Rodriguez has been announced as the face of both GUESS and Marciano. In GUESS’ Fall 2023 campaign, Rodriguez channels a retro Monica Belluci with a voluminous blow-dry hairstyle and pin-up make-up. The shoot, directed by Paul Marciano, Chief Creative Officer for GUESS, Inc, was captured by Nima Benati, resulting in a glamorous and captivating series of photographs.

LOUIS VUITTON

Pharrell Williams debuts as the new creative director of Louis Vuitton. He also unveils his latest ad campaign, starring beauty Rihanna (he is also seen standing in front of her, showcasing the new ‘Speedy’ bag). As a longstanding collaborator of Williams, Rihanna carries multiple leather monogrammed bags from the collection and effortlessly balances what appears to be a Starbucks venti cup.

Lensed by Keizō Kitajima and Martine Syms, the new Speedy bag draws inspiration from Williams’ early experiences with luxury on Lower Manhattan’s bustling Canal Street, evoking nostalgia as it recalls one of the first bags he owned. Louis Vuitton describes the new Speedy as an everyday icon designed for every walk of life. “It is an everyday icon conceived for every walk of life,” Louis Vuitton writes.

VERSACE

Dua Lipa and Versace are making fans’ Barbiecore dreams come true with the release of their collaborative collection. Ahead of the singer’s debut in the upcoming “Barbie” movie, the duo shared a sultry snapshot on their Instagram pages. The photo features Dua wearing a bedazzled pink bikini adorned with Versace chains and matching Crystal Repeat Mini Hobo Bag. She rested the bag on a colour-coordinated Cadillac convertible, while hinting at the arrival of the “Vacanza” collection. “Vacanza season is approaching,” Dua captioned her post, nodding to the name of the sparkling collection.

SKIMS SWIM

Kim Kardashian takes centre stage in SKIMS’ “most provocative” campaign to date. The reality star and mogul, photographed by longtime collaborator Steven Klein, poses in oiled-up ensembles from the Faux Leather and Rubberised Scuba Swim collections.

This collaboration between Klein and Kardashian is not their first, as they previously worked together on Kardashian’s iconic Jackie Kennedy-inspired 2017 Interview magazine shoot, featuring her daughter Northwest. Kardashian expressed her gratitude for partnering with Klein once again on the new swim campaign.

“Steven and I have collaborated on so many iconic images over the years and I’m grateful that we once again have partnered on SKIMS for the new swim campaign,” Kardashian shared in a statement.

Lindsay Lohan, who recently welcomed her first child with husband Bader Shammas, is the face of a new campaign featuring the MCM and Crocs collaboration. The shoot, which took place in Dubai, features the Burj Khalifa in the background and showcases Lohan modelling two different versions of the shoe. The footwear brands from Germany and the United States partner to bring unique features to the new shoe collection.
