Prada‘s new “Fluid Form” collection for men, curated by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, explores the concept of fluid architecture around the human body.

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have presented their Prada‘s latest collection for men named “Fluid Form,” which centres around the concept of fluid architecture around the human body. The Spring/Summer 2024 collection offers foundational garments that are designed to adapt to the natural curves and movements of the male body, providing absolute freedom of movement. The collection’s innovative aesthetic envelops the wearer, creating a harmonious blend of design and function that promises a new level of comfort and style.
Held at the Fondazione Prada art centre in Milan, the space was transformed into a cage-like structure by Dutch studio AMO. The Deposito space featured walls, floor, and suspended ceiling clad in aluminium and was lit up by a ring of industrial lamps.
Models walked on a runway between ever-shifting “walls” made of 3,000 kilos of slime that dripped down from the ceiling, creating green puddles on the floor. The design aimed to add an organic aspect to the industrial space and change the audience’s perception of it.
The Fluid Form collection explores fluid architecture around the human body, and both the aluminium structure and the slime used for the show will be recycled.

“The concept of fluidity framing the human form again expands, represented through the show space in the Deposito of the Fondazione Prada.” Said Prada. “Abstract walls are evoked through fluid interruptions, forming an ever-shifting enfilade through which the model’s process.”

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ latest Fluid Form collection aims to break away from traditional rigid tailoring and offer a more fluid and liberating experience. The collection is designed to create a constant awareness of the body within and its liberation, reflecting the natural state of humanity with dynamic movement and constant transformation.
The Fluid Form collection features soft and squishy leather bags, looser interpretations of structured shirts, and decorative pockets and corsages, all examples of the fluidity in design that the collection offers. The brand aims to provide a more natural and comfortable experience for its wearers, emphasizing the importance of freedom of movement and expression.

“The ultimate aim is a constant awareness of the body within and its liberation,” Prada said.
“These clothes are ultimately reflective of our natural state – the dynamic movement and constant transformation inherent to humanity,” the brand added.
“The shirt is a point of departure, its structure and details borrowed as a base to transform an entire stable of menswear – suits, raincoats, active sportswear, reporter jackets. Reconsidered construction, re-constructed. Beginning with simplicity, the collection proposes a notion of expansion, amplification of an idea – a paradox between silhouette and materiality. The ultimate aim is a constant awareness of the body within, and its liberation.” – From Prada.

In terms of accessories, the Spring/Summer 2024 collection by Prada showcases bright materials that contrast and complement the silhouettes of the garments. The bags, backpacks, and shoes are available in vibrant hues, such as red and purple, which contrast with the more neutral tones of the outfits.
Throughout the collection, the colour palette remains consistent, with soft tones paired with more saturated hues. For instance, where the outfit is black, the sunglasses are brown, creating a cohesive and balanced look.
