The superstar fronts Chanel’s latest 22 Bag campaign alongside actresses Lily-Rose Depp, Margaret Qualley, and Whitney Peak.
In an exciting reveal from the House of CHANEL, the luxury fashion house announced their fourth muse—Jennie of Blackpink, for the brand-new CHANEL 22 bag ad campaign starring bright, young “It” girls of the moment, including actresses Lily-Rose Depp, Margaret Qualley, and Whitney Peak.
The Chanel 22 purse has previously been worn by top models and actresses such as Lily Rose-Depp, Whitney Peak, and Margaret Qualley, and now, the gorgeous K-Pop artist is the latest face of the luxury house and was captured in images and a film by the talented Inez & Vinoodh in Seoul, Korea.
“Inez & Vinoodh call me ‘My Girl’. It’s comforting because they see me as a young woman, not just “JENNIE” in the spotlight. As a member of BLACKPINK, I’m constantly in the spotlight, but these images are an accurate representation of who I really am.” Said Jennie.
The now signature bag was imagined by creative director Virginie Viard and has become a staple within the house’s offerings. A seamless blend of Chanel’s signature quilted leather and interlaced metal chain detailing, the beloved bag also features an embossed gold logo and openwork double ‘C’ medallion, expertly highlighting the Maison’s savoir-faire and craftsmanship.
In the ad campaign, we can see the artist fronting the advertisement with the mini bag alongside the other titular ambassadors, who represent the tote and backpack versions of the bag against the backdrop of Los Angeles, New York and Palm Springs.
Jennie Kim said that this campaign has been significant for her, as the number ‘22’ has a special meaning in her life. “My first solo came out when I was 22 and we started our new world tour with BLACKPINK in 2022. To me, 22 means a new beginning,” she stated.
Jennie Kim has previously posed for the brand, specifically for Chanel’s Coco Crush fine jewellery ads as well as their Coco Neige collection. Now, she adds this new stunning collaboration to her list of work for the fashion house.
The latest Chanel’s 22 Bag campaign – bag which was introduced last year in January after being showcased on Virginie Viard‘s Spring/Summer 2022 runway – shows the artist in tote and backpack visuals, which additionally star Chanel ambassadors Lily-Rose Depp, Whitney Peak and Margaret Qualley.
In one shot, we can see the BLACKPINK’s star, Jennie Kim, wearing a polka-dot dress with the iconic Chanel 22 bag in new campaign photographed by Inez & Vinoodh. In another, she’s captured in a beautiful feather-embellished ensemble paired with fishnet stockings, showing off her fashion-forward style.
