Discover Jonathan Anderson’s Spring-Summer 2023 fashion show presented at Paris Fashion Week.

Last season, Anderson took surrealism to new extremes, with balloon shoes, lip-embossed bustiers and mini-dresses that take on the silhouette of literal cars. But for spring 2023, Anderson revealed something even stronger: bold new visions of form and hinting at fashion as a shield.
As in recent seasons, the designer continued his exploration of surreal fashion for surreal times. The collection was inspired by the tension and precision of an anthurium flower, a product of nature that looks like a design object.
“The erotic tension and precision of the anthurium flower dominate the space of LOEWE’s spring-summer 2023 runway show at La Garde Républicaine in Paris.”

The sparse exhibition space in Paris was all white, except for a huge anthurium blooming from a hole in the ground. Models emerged wearing various sizes and shapes of the flower, “a product of nature that looks like a design object and treated as such,” according to a press release, whether as a breastplate, a bra or molded around the shoulders in dimension.
A simple T-shirt outlined in graphic black “pixels” and faux shadows to look frozen in motion, combined with khaki pants patterned to look blurry and pixelated, looked straight out of Minecraft.

The term known worldwide as “The Rosette Trend” was present as a key element for the entire collection. Jonathan Anderson embellished everything from tops to neon slips with striking and sensual accents of anthurium flowers (also known as “tail flower”).

Elsewhere, the collection reduced the garment to its very essence and then took it to new heights. In addition, Anderson continued to explore the idea of inflation and deflation in footwear: shoes were either made entirely from deflated balloons or made to look like inflated balloons that encapsulated the foot. As for technology, it appears in the form of pixels that define knitted sweatshirts, T-shirts and sliders.
Ultra-short knitted babydoll dresses in solid wool and striped knit, draped miniskirts in blue jersey and black polka dot tulle had mountainous chains at the necklines. The everyday and the mundane were closely examined under Anderson’s sartorial microscope.
