The fashion show for Dolce&Gabbana Men, named “STILE,” honours meticulousness and underscores the reiteration and affirmation of their fundamental design principles.

What does it truly signify to leave a legacy? Are legacies mere static remnants of the past, or are they tangible and dynamic entities of the present, capable of shaping into something that will continue to transcend into the future? For designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, it seems that the answer lies not in an either/or dichotomy, but rather in a nuanced blend. Their Men’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, showcased in Milan over the weekend, exuded the vibrancy of a designer duo who are self-assured in their growth, possessing a clear understanding of their unique essence.
The show invitation took an unconventional form, resembling a credit card, which Gabbana described as a “symbol of identity.” Accompanying the invitation was a booklet containing all the collection images, prominently featuring a single word on the front page – “STYLE.” This succinct declaration is a fitting commentary on an industry where identity and style are intricately intertwined, serving as a guiding principle for the latest collection. While the fashion world’s collective memory tends to be fleeting, with new garments gracing and departing runways each season, the design codes of Dolce & Gabbana consistently endure as timeless expressions of style.

For the Spring/Summer 2024 season, Dolce&Gabbana has introduced a line of tailored outfits that cater to men who prefer a sophisticated and ethereal look. The collection features fabrics that sculpt the body and reveal it through transparencies, which contrast with thicker fabrics. The colour palette includes white, black, grey, camel, and brown, with these colours standing out prominently. “A garment has to fit perfectly on a real body; it doesn’t have to be just modern or cool,” they said. “That’s why the discipline of construction is so important to us.”

In this latest collection, flowers are a prominent feature and are highlighted alongside brooches. They serve as loyal companions to Domenico and Stefano’s designs, providing a classic but essential reference to spring. In combination with the delicate pieces, the flowers create a sense of softness that is present throughout the entire collection. In addition to the well-known icons of the Dolce&Gabbana wardrobe, such as the Sicilia, Taormina, and Dolce jackets – now available as small coats or in single and double-breasted styles – the collection also features the DC Logo Bag. This innovative accessory has been designed to cater to the needs of the modern man.
The Italian firm describes the collection as a carefully selected assortment that embodies the effortless style of a discerning and enlightened man. Quilted garments also jump out this season in D&G: “Embracing a spirit of innovation and craftsmanship, the padded pieces redefine volume with a harmonious blend of exploration, aesthetics, and technology,” the brand shared.

The collection also features sleeveless T-shirt, their signature black colour, the Coppola hat, the rosary, lace, transparency, and references to Sicily, among others. “But above all, it’s the cut and how our tailoring is constructed,” they explained. The collection also features a slim silhouette, occasionally with more spacious cuts, but retaining a soft and fluid feel. absence of prints was notable, except for polka dots on a sheer chiffon blouse adorned with a bow. The collection also featured sensual transparencies, organza flowers, sleeveless T-shirts reinterpreted as bustiers, and fitted T-shirts paired with high-waisted fluid trousers.
